This is Where It Started

When I was in my 20's going through depression, joblessness, this god sent little paw 'Dora' came into my life. Dora meant 'God's blessing' and she was exactly that. I never thought, I could love a voiceless being so much that I will change as a person. It was the first time in life, I was experiencing pure love walking around my feet, giving me company while I work, sleeping over me, eating with me.....

I had a very short lived happiness and soon was hit by a brutal truth that at the age of 4 month, my baby was diagnosed with osteoarthritis. She had endured too much pain that a human would even be afraid of..... but I never seen such gentle soul who knew nothing but to spread love.

I was doing a full time content writing job then, but I realised, I need to spend all my time with her, coz I was petrified to lose her. I left my job and started freelancing, working from home and at the same time, I started researching about weight management and osteoarthritis.

I read books on holistic care and tried to understand how nutrition works coz I did not want to give my girl steroids or any drug that would reduce her time with me.... I was being selfish there...

I turned to holistic care and started creating her meals, supplements and homeopathy. Along with homeopathy, the holistic meals did wonder and as the opposite of what vet predicted she could never walk again, she started running at the age of 1.2 years.

Leaving Comfort for Conviction

For a long time, I balanced this learning alongside my freelancing career. I had built a stable, high paying path for myself. From the outside, everything looked sensible.

But internally, something shifted.

The more I learned about food, health, and prevention, the harder it became to treat this knowledge as a side interest. I saw how many pet parents were confused, overwhelmed, or scared of making changes. I saw how often dogs suffered silently because nobody slowed down enough to question feeding habits.

So I made a decision that didn’t make financial sense at the time.

I stepped away from a six figure freelancing career and chose to focus fully on Dorea Bites.

Not because it was easy.
But because it felt necessary.

What Doria Bites Truly Is

Dorea Bites is not a shortcut solution.
It is not a miracle cure.
And it is not for everyone.

At its core, Dorea Bites exists to help pet parents understand before they change. To transition slowly. To observe honestly. To feed with intention rather than fear.

That is why we begin with a structured seven day starter plan. Not to sell food, but to support the gut, reduce digestive shock, and eliminate panic decisions. Food alone cannot fix problems. Guidance matters just as much.

I don’t claim to know everything. I am still learning, researching, refining and when cases require deeper clinical input, collaboration with professionals nutritionists to tailor out reciepe becomes part of the journey.

This is not ego driven work. It is responsibility driven work.

Loss, Continuity, and Why This Matters

In 2024, I lost Dora to tick fever. I remained in denial and was devastated for 1.5 years, I still cry seeing her old photos....

But then decided to share my knowledge and facility to all pet parents in Kolkata as we strongly need a source to guide us or help us when we feel helpless with our pet's health. Dorea Bites was never meant to be a brand. It was born from lived experience, love, loss, and the quiet responsibility that comes with caring for dogs who depend on us completely.

We strongly advocate every animal equally while ensuring we can contribute in their nutritional health build up. So that pets and their parents does not have to suffer in silence.
